SPURS is reorganized
Your Henryetta Chamber of Commerce is focusing on revitalizing the "SPURS" program.
SPURS is the acronym for "Special People Urging Revitalization Stimulation."
Basically, the program is designed to have a specific focus on the revitalization of our commercial business in the core area of the City.
This program is similar to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce sponsored "Main Street Program."
To maximize the success of our commercial business community we need to have a coordinated effort to revitalize our Main Street appearance and peripheral arteries. Earlier this week Chamber President, Tammie Hiatt, Retail Merchants Chairperson, Jill Francis, Beautification Chairman, Jeremy Roberts, Tourism Chair, Bruce Jones, and Ambassador Chair, Judy Stidman met to discuss revitalizing Henryetta's core business area. During that meeting, Jill Francis was selected as the interim chair to lead the SPURS program.
The committee agreed that the key to actual revitalization occurring will require our commercial businesses and other stakeholders being directly involved and participating in the program. SPURS members will be contacting Henryetta businesses and seeking a commitment.
Commitment to revitalization is a commitment to change and changes do not occur overnight - they are incremental. However, with an agreed upon goal and core guiding principles that build on economic success and community pride, positive improvements can be accomplished.
In the near future commercial business in core and peripheral areas can expect SPURS representatives to make contact with you for the purpose of inviting your participation in the program. They will not be seeking funding or membership fees; they will want your commitment in leadership participation.
Your Chamber sincerely hopes that our business community will embrace this effort to revitalize our Main Street and peripheral business areas. For more information we invite you to call our office 918-652-3331 or email at
